Livestock breeds of Pakistan
Pakistan's livestock trade runs on a relatively small number of well-known breeds — Sahiwal and Cholistani cattle, Beetal goats, and regional sheep among them. Qasvah keeps a reference entry for each breed it lists, with facts attributed to a source, and links it to the animals currently for sale.
Why does breed matter when buying?
Breed sets expectations for size, build and how an animal is typically used, and it is the first filter most buyers apply. It is also the largest single influence on price between two otherwise similar animals. Knowing the breed you want narrows a market of thousands of listings to a few dozen worth opening.
Where do Qasvah's breed facts come from?
From a curated reference set, not from anything generated. Each fact on a breed page carries the source it came from, and the page shows that source next to the fact so you can check it. Where we have no sourced fact for a breed, the page says less rather than filling the gap — an invented figure about an animal you are about to buy is worse than a blank.
How do I find animals of a specific breed?
Every breed page links straight to the live listings for that breed, and the listings pages let you narrow further by city and price. If a breed page shows no animals, none are currently listed — the pages are built from live inventory, so an empty one is an accurate answer rather than a broken link.
Which breed should I choose?
That depends on what you are buying for, what is available near you and what you can afford, and no page can answer it for you. Read the breed entries for the two or three you are considering, compare what is actually listed in your city, and ask sellers why they keep the breed they keep. Their answers are usually more use than any general description.
What does “cross-breed” mean on Qasvah?
That the seller has not named a single catalogue breed — the animal is mixed, or they are not sure. It is an honest label, and it should change how you read the price: you are not paying for a named breed’s reputation. Inspect the animal in front of you rather than inferring traits from a breed page that does not apply.
How should I compare two breeds?
Read both encyclopedia entries, then open the live listings for each in your city and compare what is actually for sale — age, weight, photos, price. The encyclopedia tells you what the breed is known for; the listings tell you what you can buy this week. A comparison that ignores the live ads is a comparison of descriptions, not of animals.
