Meeting safely, and paying safely
Meet in a public place in daylight, take someone with you, inspect the animal before any money changes hands, and pay only on collection. Never send an advance to someone you have not met, and never share an OTP — no genuine buyer or seller will ever need one from you.
Where should we meet?
Somewhere public, in daylight, that you chose or agreed to — a mandi, a main road, a place with other people. Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back. If the seller insists on an isolated location or on meeting after dark, treat that as the answer to a different question and decline.
When should money change hands?
At collection, after you have inspected the animal, and not before. The sequence matters more than the method: a buyer who pays first has no leverage and no recourse, and “pay a small advance to hold it” is the most reliable opening move in livestock fraud. If a deposit is genuinely needed, see the animal first and pay in person.
Why does Qasvah ask about CNIC verification?
A verified badge means a real, accountable person is behind the account rather than a disposable profile. It is not a guarantee about the animal, and it does not replace seeing what you are buying — but it raises the cost of disappearing, which is exactly what fraud depends on being cheap. Prefer verified sellers, and be more careful, not less, with an unverified one.
What should I never do?
Never share an OTP with anyone, for any reason — an OTP proves it is you, so giving it away is giving away your account. Never move the conversation off Qasvah to arrange payment; on-platform messages are a record, and fraud almost always starts with “message me on WhatsApp instead”. Never pay for an animal you have not seen. Never accept a deal that has to be closed right now.
What if the animal is on a farm, not at a mandi?
The same rules travel. Go in daylight, take someone, tell a third person where you are, and do not carry more cash than the agreed amount. A farm is not automatically safer than a mandi — it is more isolated. If you do not know the area, meet first at a public point and travel on together, rather than navigating an unfamiliar track alone.
How do I report a suspicious ad or a scam attempt?
Use Report on the listing. That is the signal the moderation queue actually receives. Blocking the chat is useful for you and does not, by itself, take the ad down for the next buyer. Do not pay “to get your money back”. Do not share screenshots of OTPs or bank passwords with anyone who offers to “recover” the funds.
